The CFI Add-on Course is available to military pilots that currently hold another instructor rating and now wish to add the single engine Certified Flight Instructor certification.

Ground Training

ASEL Piston Aircraft Ground Training

Ground training segment: 16 hours

Flight Instructor ratings require an instructional level of knowledge of all subject areas in the CFI Practical test Standards.  Ground training will develop that level of knowledge in the areas of systems, maneuvers, and emergency procedures.

Programmed Flight Training

Flight training: Up to 15 hours of single engine flight training

Flight Check: 2 hours

The objective of flight training is to provide an opportunity for instructor candidates to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to train students in multi engine aircraft. The opportunity provides for demonstration, instruction, and practice of maneuvers and procedures pertinent to multi engine aircraft.

At the end of the flight training curriculum, the flight instructor candidate will be able to demonstrate to an instructional level of knowledge all of the requirements for the Flight Instructor Airplane Multi Engine practical test standards. Successful completion of flight training is validated by appropriate testing and checking.
